It was over 3 years ago that this picture was taken. This picture has so much meaning to our family.  I remember this day like it was yesterday.

My husband asked me to marry him about 2 months prior to this picture. I decided to plan a destination wedding.  The list of invites jumped from 20-40 people to well over 100 people after getting all my mother’s invites added to the list.  I did not want us to spend a lot on our wedding.  So on a Wednesday, I spoke to my husband (back then fiancé’) and said that I just want us to get married.  He agreed to marry me that Saturday.  I had my mom set everything up at her house.  I called some friends and family over for my big day.

The day came and I was just going to wear what I had in my closet. I needed a vail, so my sister and I went to a bridal store.  The sales girl at the store talked me into trying on dresses and I ended up purchasing a dress and a vail.  There was a suit store next door.  We went in to look and see what they had.  I bought my husband a shirt, pants, and bow tie.  We ended up looking like a couple that was getting married that day.

My sister came to do my make- up and hair at my mother’s house. My cousin took pictures.  My mom’s living room and dining room was set up perfectly for my big day.  My mom even made me a bouquet to carry.

They played music on the stereo system. The ceremony was so perfect.  The important people in my life were there.  I had about 20 guests, if that.  My mom made filet mignon and mashed potatoes with roasted carrots.

I have to say that my big was perfect and we spent less than $600. A marriage is not about how much you spend on the wedding.  It is about the love you share with your partner and how you will get through anything that comes your way until the end your lives.
