Welcome to Tell Jannel.
This post is about two trips we took in September 2018 to Jacksonville. I went once for my daughter’s 3 year old birthday. Then we went again as a family to the beach. I will describe both trips and places we visited while we were there in September.
The Birthday Trip
The drive was about 6 hours with stops along the way.
Hotel
- Sheraton Jacksonville at Deerwood Park Blvd
- The hotel was clean and cozy for the two of us. The staff was helpful and kind. The parking and internet was free. They brought a microwave to the room so that I could warm my daughter’s milk. I was able to let my daughter ride her bike in the parking lot since it was empty the next morning of our stay. She really enjoyed it. See pictures below.
Restaurants
- J. Alexander’s Restaurant (Bistro Drive)
I picked this restaurant because it had good reviews and they had chicken fingers on the menu. I orders some chicken and chicken tenders for my daughter. The restaurant was very nice. The food was delicious. My daughter had more cake and a candle for her birthday meal.
- Another Broken Egg Cafe (West Deer Lake Drive)
We ate at Another Broken Egg for breakfast. I chose this restaurant because we have it in Atlanta, GA. The food is always good. We picked up our food to go.
Beach
- Oceanfront Park (1st Street South)
I chose this beach because the hotel staff at the front desk recommended it. I am glad we went to this one. The parking was free. There was a restroom right next to the parking lot. When you are potty training, you will need a restroom close by. My daughter enjoyed playing in the sand and running round on this beach. We actually went back, when we visited Jacksonville the second time in September with my husband.
Second Trip to Jacksonville, FL in September
Hotel
Omni Jacksonville Hotel (Water Street Jacksonville)
We picked this hotel off of Kayak. We enjoyed the hotel. It was nice and clean. We had to pay for parking. Most hotels that are located downtown charge a fee for parking. There was not a microwave available in the room. We still enjoyed our stay at the Omni.
Restaurants
- Firebirds Wood Fire Grill (Town Center Parkway)
The salad with chicken was delicious. My daughter enjoyed her chicken fingers. I believe my husband had a hamburger. He said it was tasty. We had lunch her before we went to the beach.
- First Watch (Riverside Ave, Downtown FL)
We had breakfast at First Watch. The food was pretty good. I felt like there was little bit of a wait for the food we ordered. It was good for breakfast.
Overall, I have to say, I really enjoy my trips to Jacksonville, FL from Atlanta, GA. The people are very friendly. The hotels are always at a great price. The beach is always lovely regardless if it is a rain or sunshine day.
